Diversity, Anti-Racism, Equity and Inclusion

Structural racism, ethnic discrimination and other forms of oppression have contributed to racial disparities that have existed in the past and persist in the present.  Those inequities are the result of policies and practices that work to marginalize entire populations of people, especially in Mississippi.  We, the United Way of Lowndes & Noxubee, unequivocally denounce racism/ethnic discrimination!  It undermines the well-being and vitality of our communities, creates barricades that promotes division, and highlights years of injustices! For white individuals that do not see it or are not aware of the barriers, they are most likely not motivated to address on acknowledge barriers especially, if that barrier provides them a sense of entitlement.  Our United Way Network seeks to dismantle disparities and strives to engage residents and community members, especially those whose voices have traditionally been marginalized, in the shared work of fortifying equity and empowerment.
