The objective of Volunteer Columbus (United Way's Community Volunteer Center) is to market a wide variety of volunteer opportunities for potential volunteers to choose from, engage the community in service, and assist non-profits in volunteer recruitment and offer resources to help them enhance their services. We serve as a “matchmaker” for volunteers and non-profits in Lowndes County. We are here to assist all nonprofits serving the Lowndes County community through recruiting volunteers and marketing.

Volunteers can either browse the website to look for opportunities of interest, or create an account to receive email updates on new opportunities, log volunteer hours and more! Registering is the best way to find out all opportunities as they are posted! Volunteers may also contact us on the link "ADD ME" found directly above on this page to receive bi-monthly e-newsletter which includes a comprehensive list of all opportunities currently posted along with upcoming events and features. Volunteers can utilize the "Log Hours" component of the website to log and document their volunteer hours for purposes such as: student service requirements, resume building and to establish a digital record of volunteer service.
Our services are available to you, free of charge! You do NOT have to be a United Way agency to utilize our services. You only need to offer services or host events open to the entire community. By signing on as an “agency” on our website, you can post your own volunteer opportunities and inform the public about your organization. You can also link those posted volunteer opportunities to your organization's Facebook and Twitter page. Our website offers you one more place to be found on the internet and is a valuable resource for the public who wants to volunteer or simply find out more about your organization. Just being listed can increase your chances of an interested viewer donating to your organization or asking you to speak to a group they are associated with.
Posting Volunteer Opportunites increases your reach into alternate potential "volunteer pools" and allows us to know what your needs are and to market them to the entire community via our e-newsletter, Facebook and Twitter.
In addition, workshops on relevant topics are offered during the year to assist nonprofits with volunteer management and running a nonprofit organization.
